Speaker: Charles H. Nesbitt, US Army veteran, former NYS Assemblyman and businessman
A highly decorated helicopter pilot with the 57th Assault Helicopter Co. during the Vietnam War, Mr Nesbitt served in the U.S. armed forces for 10 years and earned the prestigious air medal with 26 oak leaf clusters. As an Assemblyman, Mr Nesbitt has served as the Ranking Minority Member of the Veterans Affairs Committee and served as a Member of the New York State Veterans Affairs Commission. Mr Nesbitt has led efforts to gain funding and services for New York's nearly 1.3 million veterans. He also was instrumental in obtaining the passage of an Assembly resolution in March 1994 calling on Congress to enact a U.S. constitutional amendment prohibiting the desecration of the American flag.
Mr Nesbitt served many years as general sales manager at Moore-Nesbitt, Inc., and Nesbitt Chrysler Plymouth Dodge, Inc., before his election to the Assembly. He also is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Greater Rochester GMC Dealers and past president and director of the Albion Chamber of Commerce.
His strong business background has made him a champion of efforts to reform workers compensation, eliminate burdensome regulations and propose new incentives to encourage business growth and job creation in New York. Mr Nesbitt's most recent effort, NY First, A Plan for New York's Future, includes comprehensive legislative reforms aimed at job creation, streamlining government, strengthening families and enhancing the safety of our communities.
